Uncharted territory

As many of you know, today was the World Cup final between Spain and The Netherlands. We hosted some friends with Dutch heritage who share our (though really eric's) love of cereal. While watching the game we feasted on all the sugar cereals we (I) would never allow in the house. Lucky Charms, Fruity Pebbles, you name it, we had it. We have done this before with these friends and it is always a ton of fun. They have two kids who are just enough older than ours that they can play with Otto and Mette and keep them busy. Mette took a nap at her normal time, but since Otto was too excited about the big kids coming we let him stay up to play and watch the game. He literally ran around ALL afternoon and ate marshmallows. It was a good day to be a kid in our house. Mette woke up during the first half and soon was proclaiming her love of Franken Berry. The game ended after double overtime a little after 5. By the time our friends left it was close to 6. A solid two plus hours away from bedtime, however this was the scene after Otto sat down on the couch mid sentence after they left.

He crashed in about three seconds. We had a really hard time getting him to wake up. In a rather desperate attempt to keep him up to a normal bedtime we took him outside to eat dinner at a local restaurant. It worked and eric is tucking a very sleepy boy into bed right now

So while you may think the players in the soccer game look like they are tired after the game. Apparently just watching the game will do you in as well.
